Text Appearing Before Image:
be not done, we shall be constantly falling into the error ofseparating intimately allied groups, because their externalappearance is different, and of uniting insects which, fromthe difference of their organization, are widely apart, becausetheir appearance is similar. Let us take any every-day ex-ample of the want of this generalized view of insects. Thereis an extensive group of two-winged flies which are calleddrones: they are the very personifications of luxuriant idle-ness—they do nothing but sip the nectar from the brightestflowers, and enjoy the sunshine basking upon the leaves ofplants; and there is an extensive group of bees, having thesame general appearance, but being in habits the very reverseof the drones—toiling all day long, either in the construc-tion of the nest, or in provisioning it with pollen paste. Now, by ignorant persons, the same name is given to bothgroups of insects, and not the slightest idea is entertainedof the totally opposite nature of their habits.

I am the more anxious to impress upon the reader the ne-cessity for obtaining a generalized view of insects, and indeedof the entire productions of nature, because it is well knownthat many of om* fellow-labourers fritter away their talents 34 INTRODUCTION. and time in the sole elucidation of the characters of obscurespecies of insects, without a thought of the higher viewswhich lay open before them. English naturalists, saysMr. Bicheno, appear to me, from various causes, to have])ursued the nomenclature and examination of species insuch a way as very much to exclude from their attention thehigher ends of science, in which alone the bulk of mankindis interested. Ever since the subject has been pursued inthe spirit of true j)hilosophy, it has almost solely been con-fined to the analytic form, which, however important, is aptto degenerate into unprofitable detail, as the synthetic modeleads oftentimes to the other extr

Wrekmeister Harmonies and Nadja live in Berlin

Wrekmeister Harmonies, led by musician and composer JR Robinson, is an experimental music collective. Named after the Béla Tarr movie Werckmeister Harmonies, it combines elements of drone music, serialism, post-rock, and heavy metal.

When I heard that Wrekmeister Harmonies was coming to Berlin, I had to start sketching ideas for a poster. Their opening act is Nadja and I love them too. The first thing I did was a female face with luscious hair and I liked it so much I decided to use as the poster.

The sketch was done on a cardboard I had laying around the house and it showed me that this isn’t the perfect place to draw something like that.

After the initial drawing, I decided to play around with some different pens since the paper was really bad absorbing ink.

After I realized that the image wasn’t suitable to become a poster, I decided to test out something else and did some tracing on Illustrator. The final result was better than I imagined so I decided to use it on the poster.

Above you can see the final result and I love when I finish a poster project before the concert happens. Looking forward to see Wrekmeister Harmonies live here in Berlin.
